This is W.A.R. Blog Tour: Author Interview + GIVEAWAY

Welcome to my stop on the This is W.A.R. blog tour hosted by Soho Teen.

Today is the release day for This is W.A.R.!!!

Q&A with authors Lisa and Laura
Hi Lisa and Laura! Welcome back to Michelle & Leslie's Book Picks. It was fun chatting with you both about the Kate and Liar Society and we are so happy to chat with you about This is W.A.R. To start off, we want to know your best revenge story.
You need to know that in real life we are two of the most non-confrontational people on the face of the planet. We’re pleasers through and through. But we’re also sisters. And we fought growing up. We fought a lot.
Out of the four girls (Willa, Lina, Sloane, Madge and Rose), who are you the least like?
Laura is definitely the least like Madge. She’s such a badass and Laura is a wimp. Lisa is the least like Sloane. She’s the queen of random trivia knowledge and Sloane would go down in flames in a game of Trivial Pursuit with Lisa.
Was it more challenging writing about 5 different girls (Willa, Lina, Sloane, Madge and Rose from This is W.A.R.) than focusing on one main character (Kate of the Liar Society series)?
Yes, but in a good way. We LOVED plugging ourselves into these girls’ brains. Our goal was to have a reader be able to open up to any page of the book and know whose section she was in. We hope we were successful!
How do you plot out the mystery aspect of your novels? Do you already know "whodunit" is at the beginning or is he/she a mystery to you too and you let things percolate a bit?
We map everything out before we even begin writing. Our outlines are incredibly detailed (like 30,000 word detailed) and we basically have a black and white version of our book. When we begin writing, we color it in!
What is your favorite line from This is W.A.R.?
You mean paragraph, right? Right.

And floating on her back in the darkness of Hawthorne Lake, fireworks exploding overhead and scattering through the sky like rain, Willa chose to live. Willa chose extraordinary. She had never once closed her eyes during a scary movie and she wasn’t about to start then. Life was about to get interesting and Willa didn’t want to miss a thing.

About the Book

This is not a story of forgiveness...

The mystery of their best friend's murder drives four girls to destroy the Gregory family.

Everyone at Hawthorne Lake Country Club saw Willa Ames-Rowan climb into a boat with James Gregory, the Club’s heir apparent.

And everyone at Hawthorne Lake Country Club watched him return. Alone.

They all know he killed her. But none of them will say a word. The Gregory family is very, very good at making problems go away.

Enter the W.A.R.—the war to avenge Willa Ames-Rowan. Four girls. Four very different motives for justice and revenge, and only one rule: destroy the Gregory family at any cost.

  4. I would like to say I'm revengeful, but it's probably more accurate to say that I'm non-confrontational.

  5. Whether I want revenge or not sort of depends on a lot of things. It can really go either way. A lot of times I'll stew about something and never take action. *shrugs*

  6. I am passive agressive, which I think can be worse then being confrontational or non-reactive. I'll do sneaky, snide, unnecessary things that effect a person, but not directly to them. It's a horrible trait.

  7. Honestly, it kinda depends on who I have the problem with. It's on a case by case basis. Also depends on my mood. Bad mood - confrontational, Calm mood - Let it go and try to get over it :)
